President’s Letter

Dear Auburn Family Member,

Just as we all hope that New Orleans will rebuild itself better than before Katrina, The New Orleans Auburn Club is not any different.  I, along with a handful of officers, hope to rebuild YOUR club better than ever.  We are blessed to have such a solid foundation to build upon, created by members of the past. One of those members is Shelby McIntosh ’62 who after 30 years of leadership is “retiring” from his position of Treasurer and also Past-President.

In building a better club upon this foundation, we are proud to announce that the New Orleans Auburn Club will award a $500 scholarship to a freshman from the New Orleans area.  You may think as many have before…$500 is a drop in the bucket when you consider a Louisiana resident will invest $15,000 per year to attend and live in Auburn.  While it is a drop in the bucket, it is $500 that a student will not have to pay back on a loan or $500 that will pay for a year’s work of books.  It is with these encouraging thoughts that we decided to move forward on making a difference in the life of a young Auburn Tiger.  For more information on the scholarship, click here.

So how do we raise this money?

First, you may have noticed that dues have been increased. See the dues restructure here.  A portion of all annual dues will go towards the New Orleans Auburn Club scholarship.  We have also revised the membership categories to include single and family, rather than single and couple.

Additional methods to raise funds include the New Orleans to Tiger Stadium bus trip, t-shirt sales, and raffling/auctioning an autographed item.

We thank you for paying your dues and for being involved in the club.

War Eagle,

Matt Estrade ‘00
